Annual Farmers Day Festival, 3rd Saturday in July

Beginning in 1982 to honor the local farmers, Farmers Day has become one of the best street festivals in North Carolina with attendance estimated at more than 25,000 visitors.

Today, Farmers Day offers something for people of all ages. More than 200 colorful booths line Main Street with a variety of arts and crafts items, local produce and honey, agricultural related displays, antique tractor display, and more!

Farmers Day is overflowing with free entertainment all day on the performance stages. On the Main Stage, a variety of music is played by local bands. Other entertainment includes dancers, gymnastics, and karate demonstrations. You can also enjoy the singing and clogging performed on the Park Stage. Children’s Stage is dedicated to the young and the young-at-heart. Clowns, magicians, and puppets delight children of all ages.

The ever popular Little Mr. & Miss Farmers Day Contest is another hit. Teenagers enjoy dunking friends, teachers, and principals in the Dunking Booth.

Food vendors sell funnel cakes, cotton candy, roasted corn on the cob, Gyro sandwiches, BBQ, hot dogs and hamburgers, along with freshly squeezed lemonade and homemade ice cream. What a treat on a hot summer day!

Once the street vendors pack up, the town gets ready for the street party. Past performers have included The Embers, The Entertainers, Part Time Party Time Band, The Fantastic Shakers, Darrell Harwood, and others. Bring a lawn chair to enjoy the band. The evening ends with a beautiful fireworks display.
