Easter Egg Hunt
The Easter Egg Hunt is the day before Easter at the Community Park located at 412 South Myrtle Ave. Children of all ages are invited to attend, visit with the Easter Bunny, and participate in various activities such as games, coloring, face painting, and the petting zoo. Don’t forget your basket!
CruisIn’ The Grove
CruisIn’ The Grove is held the third Saturday of April, June, August and October from 3:00 – 7:00 p.m. on Main Street. Main Street is filled with all sorts of cars, motorcycles, and golf carts. Anything with a motor is welcome! Music, food, and lots of family fun!
Annual Farmers Day Festival, 3rd Saturday in July
Beginning in 1982 to honor the local farmers, Farmers Day has become one of the best street festivals in North Carolina with attendance estimated at more than 25,000 visitors.
Today, Farmers Day offers something for people of all ages. More than 200 colorful booths line Main Street with a variety of arts and crafts items, local produce and honey, agricultural related displays, antique tractor display, and more!
Farmers Day is overflowing with free entertainment all day on the performance stages. On the Main Stage, a variety of music is played by local bands. Other entertainment includes dancers, gymnastics, and karate demonstrations. You can also enjoy the singing and clogging performed on the Park Stage. Children’s Stage is dedicated to the young and the young-at-heart. Clowns, magicians, and puppets delight children of all ages.
The ever popular Little Mr. & Miss Farmers Day Contest is another hit. Teenagers enjoy dunking friends, teachers, and principals in the Dunking Booth.
Food vendors sell funnel cakes, cotton candy, roasted corn on the cob, Gyro sandwiches, BBQ, hot dogs and hamburgers, along with freshly squeezed lemonade and homemade ice cream. What a treat on a hot summer day!
Once the street vendors pack up, the town gets ready for the street party. Past performers have included The Embers, The Entertainers, Part Time Party Time Band, The Fantastic Shakers, Darrell Harwood, and others. Bring a lawn chair to enjoy the band. The evening ends with a beautiful fireworks display.
Downtown Trick or Treating, October 31st
Each year children from the area are invited to “trick or treat” the downtown merchants for fun and safe Halloween. Starting at 4:00 p.m., the scary, the cute, the ugly, and the creepy appear on Main Street’s sidewalks. Local schools and churches also provide fall festivals, “Trunk or Treat”, and other festive activities for local children.
Southern Rowan Christmas Parade, Tuesday before Thanksgiving
The annual Southern Rowan Christmas Parade is held on Main Street starting in Landis at 3:00 p.m. and China Grove at 4:00 p.m. Marching bands, beautiful queens, unique floats, dancers, school and church groups, clowns, fire trucks, funny cars, and many more entries make the parade fun for all ages. And of course, Santa Claus always ends the parade on his sled with reindeers.
Christmas Tree Lighting
The annual Christmas Tree Lighting kicks of the Christmas season. Join the Mayor has he flips the giant light switch during the festivities in Hanna Park. Hot chocolate and light refreshments are served.
Christmas in The Grove
100% chance of snow! The 3rd Saturday in December marks Christmas in the Grove. Enjoy sledding on Swink Street, fire pits, hot chocolate, s’mores, and don’t forget Santa! Take a horse drawn wagon ride down Main Street and do a little Christmas shopping or dine in one of our restaurants. Plastic sleds only!
